Conference on Loss and Damage 2019

Understanding, measuring and governing social-ecological consequences of extreme climatic events.
This 2,5 day long conference will bring together leading scientists from across sustainability, ecology and climate science under a framework of loss and damage to climate change.

The need for more knowledge about L&D has been recognized by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, UNFCC,  which have made multiple calls to the scientific community for more information. However, many scientists working on related issues have limited awareness of this process or that their research could be highly relevant and useful. There is an important role to be played by interdisciplinary science in defining, measuring and providing tools to govern the losses and damages that will incur from climate change.

The conference will be held in autumn 2019.

The conference is hosted by Lund University of Sustainability Studies and co-organised with Centre for Environmental and Climate Research (CEC) Lund University, Environmental Change Unit (ECI) Oxford University and Met Office UK.
