PhD Programme

The LUCSUS PhD research programme educate PhD graduates from different disciplinary backrounds within the field of sustainability. Our aim is to develop scientific competence and interdisciplinary research to comprehend and address various sustainability challenges such as climate change, climate adaptation, biodiversity loss, and land use change.

A PhD in Sustainability Science at LUCSUS means developing expertise in critical thinking and real-world problem-solving in a creative, interdisciplinary, and collegial international atmosphere. 

PhD positions at LUCSUS are announced in connection with specific programs, such as the Agenda 2030 Research School at Lund University, or research projects funded through grants led by senior researchers at LUCSUS, who supervise PhD students. Read more about how to apply for PhD studies at LUCSUS

LUCSUS has graduated nearly 20 PhDs in Sustainability Science since 2008. From 2008- 2018, PhDs at LUCSUS were part of the Linneaus programme LUCID (Lund University Centre of Excellence for Integration of Social and Natural Dimensions of Sustainability)
